LILY DEVIE

Age: 4 Years Old (April 2, 2022)
Height: 15.3hh approx.
Suitability: Trail Riding / Companion

Lily came to us when it became clear she wasn’t quite ready to continue with race training because her body needs more time to mature. Lily is young, bright, and forward thinking, with a bit of an opinion, not a beginner horse, but also not a difficult one. She’s very much a young horse who is still figuring herself out.

At this stage, Lily has immature knees and some other joints that are still closing, which can make her uncomfortable if she’s asked to work too much right now. With time off to grow, let her joints finish developing, and a thoughtful, unrushed approach, she is expected to be suitable for flat work and trail riding in the future. The key for Lily is patience, she needs someone willing to let her mature at her own pace rather than pushing her before she’s ready.

Lily would be a great match for someone who enjoys young horses and understands the value of letting them grow up first. She’s smart, curious, and has a lot of potential ahead of her once her body catches up to her brain. With consistency, time, and the right expectations, Lily is going to make a lovely partner for someone looking for a slow, rewarding project.

JAKE LOEWEN

Age: 15 Years Old (May 16, 2011)
Height: 15hh approx.
Suitability: Companion / Trail Riding

Jake is a gorgeous gelding who has been with the same family his entire life, making this a very difficult decision for them. His owners care deeply about him and want to make sure he finds the right home, so there is no rush, the priority is simply finding the best fit for this special boy. He is described as a true sweetheart and the kind of horse that is just nice to have around the barn. He leads well, behaves great during daily handling, and gets along well with other horses. He goes out with everyone and sits comfortably in the middle of the herd. His owner also says he would make a great “babysitter” type horse, as he loves babies and is a steady presence around younger horses.

Jake is currently barefoot, and easy to manage for day-to-day care. He retired off the track in 2025 after 215 starts, and is still fairly sharp for his age, but he has not been ridden. Jake does have arthritis in his front ankles, which should be considered when planning his future, so he would be best suited to a lighter lifestyle. He could be a wonderful companion horse, a babysitter for young horses, or even a quiet trail partner for light riding. With his kind personality and steady nature, Jake could also be a lovely candidate for an equine-assisted learning program.

If you’re looking for a kind, steady gelding to add to your farm, Jake could be a wonderful fit. His family simply wants to see him land somewhere he will be loved just as much as he has been his entire life.

MACHO POLO

Age: 11 Years Old (May 5, 2015)
Height: 16.2hh approx.
Suitability: Trail Riding / Flat Work

Mac is a recently retired gelding who is ready to find his next home and begin a new chapter off the track. With 232 lifetime starts and just under $200,000 in earnings, he is an honest horse who gave everything to his racing career and is now ready to slow down and enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle.

Mac is best suited for a flatwork-focused home due to an old tendon injury. He is currently sound, and shows no discomfort on it now that he’s no longer in a high active lifestyle.

He is a very people-oriented horse with a very affectionate personality. Mac is extremely “in your pocket” and enjoys attention, grooming, and just overall spoiling. He will happily stand for long periods of time to be fussed over and is the type of horse who will form a strong bond with his person.

Mac has been backed, and has no cares about someone being on his back, but has not yet been officially started under saddle, largely due to weather.

He does not tolerate cold weather well and would do best in a home where he has access to a stall at night and during poor weather conditions. And definitely blankets. Lots of blankets! Mac is up to date on all routine veterinary care and deworming, and is currently barefoot.

He is going to make a lovely partner for someone looking for a kind, straightforward horse to develop and enjoy.

SCOTTISH QUEEN

Age: 19 Years Old (March 19, 2007)
Height: 15.1hh approx.
Suitability: Trail Riding / Companion

This sweetheart who has officially retired from her broodmare career and is ready for something new.

She had 56 starts on the track before stepping into her next role as a mama. Since then, she’s had five babies (and then some!) who’ve gone on to have successful careers of their own.

She weaned her last foal this past fall, and it became clear she was giving everything she had to her babies, and not keeping enough for herself. Now it’s her turn, thanks to her owner.

She is sound, incredibly kind, and truly as gentle as they come. The kind of mare who just gets it, quiet, soft, and easy to be around. Queen has is now starting to learn the basics under saddle. She has not been backed yet, but will be soon. She’s the perfect blank slate for someone looking to bring along a kind, willing partner at their own pace.

We see her making a beautiful family horse, trail partner, or steady companion for someone who values a good brain and an even better heart. She’s ready to find her person, and we’ll continue to share updates as she learns and grows.

PLAY DATE

Age: 24 Years Old (February 24, 2002)
Height: 15.3hh approx.
Suitability: Light Riding / Companion

Annie joined our program in 2025 after spending more than a decade living a very quiet life with minimal work expected of her. You would never know it by meeting her though. She is gentle, steady, and takes everything in with a soft, thoughtful eye.

She has shown us that she’s the kind of mare who just wants to be near her people. Annie is sweet without being pushy, calm without being dull, and seems genuinely in love with all attention she gets.

Following her intake, Annie underwent dental surgery to remove several infected teeth, and she has now been fully cleared and is feeling great. She will benefit from a follow-up float in July/August to finish balancing things out, but otherwise, she is ready to go.

She has been lightly started under saddle and took everything in stride, no fuss, no drama, just quiet acceptance. Exactly who she’s always been.

Annie would make a wonderful family horse or a quiet partner for someone looking for a kind, easy presence in their life. She’d also be perfectly happy stepping into a more relaxed, retirement-style home where she can just be loved.

MACK THE KNIFE

Age: 13 Years Old (March 6, 2013)
Height: 16hh approx.
Suitability: Trail Riding / Pleasure Driving

Mack is a gorgeous gelding with an impressive 300 career starts, last racing in 2025. He is fully sound for a flatwork career, with minor arthritis noted in his left front. Mack brings a wealth of life experience and is ready to transition into a quieter, more relaxed next chapter.

Mack is excellent in harness, making him a wonderful pleasure driving candidate. He is described as a steady, slower paced gelding who understands his job well. He has not yet been started under saddle, but has the potential for a riding career with the right approach. He can become fidgety when being harnessed, particularly because he anticipates going to work, so he will benefit from a confident, experienced handler who can help him develop a more settled and relaxed routine as he transitions into a new role.

He is excellent to handle on the ground, with a great temperament, and does well turned out with other horses in a group setting. Mack would be best suited for a home interested in pleasure driving, flatwork, or trail riding. He is a super sweet horse who will do best with someone who understands how to channel his energy and give him structure!

IN REHAB

REGAL SON

Age: 15 Years Old (May 3, 2011)
Height: 16.2hh approx.
Suitability: TBD

Sonny, is a true war horse with over $800,000 in career earnings across two countries. He had a long and accomplished racing career before finding himself in need of help late last year after landing in a “kill pen” situation. Today, he’s safe in rehab foster care and beginning his next chapter.

Sonny is thin and is in need of getting caught up on his routine veterinary care. He will be brought up to date on vaccinations, dental work, and a full health assessment as we move forward. He also has an old bowed tendon that will be evaluated as part of his rehab plan. At this time, he appears fairly sound, but we will take the time needed to understand his long-term comfort and capabilities.

Despite everything he has been through, Sonny has not lost his personality. He walks into the barn like he still owns it, enjoys his meals very much, and is already making himself known as a favourite.

Sonny is not available for adoption at this time. His focus right now is weight gain, veterinary assessment, and letting his body and mind settle. We will share updates as his rehab progresses and we learn more about what his next step may look like.

JAMES P SULLIVAN

Age: Unknown
Height: 15.1hh approx.
Suitability: TBD

Sully arrived without much history and is unregistered. What we do know is that he needed a safe place to land, and now he has one.

Sully has had several changes in a very short period of time, as we were able to track his history for the last 6-8 months at least. But because of that, he’s understandably pretty unsure. He wants to trust, but he’s still deciding if people are going to be kind.

Physically, Sully has some rebuilding ahead of him. He arrived thin and is currently lame on his right hind. He is scheduled for a full veterinary assessment, including soundness evaluation, and overall health review. We will take the time needed to understand what he needs and build a proper plan around that information.

Mentally, he will need patience and consistency. Horses who experience instability don’t bounce back overnight. Sully is not available for adoption at this time. His focus is weight gain, veterinary care, and learning that humans and life are going to be good again.

He has a long road ahead, both physically and mentally. The good news is he no longer has to walk it alone and he’s got an incredible team of professionals, a wonderful foster mom, and so many people cheering him on.

PICK A GENRE

Age: 7 Years Old (February 22, 2019)
Height: 16.1hh approx.
Suitability: TBD

Flipper, as he’s affectionately known, is a recent rehabilitation intake currently in foster care on stall rest following a significant tendon injury. He is expected to require approximately 4–6 months of controlled rest and rehabilitation before being reassessed for future use.

Flipper is a super sweet horse who has settled well into care and is handling the transition to stall rest appropriately. He has limited vision in one eye, which has not impacted him significantly to date, but will continue to be monitored as part of his overall care plan. He is also a ridgling (cryptorchid), a condition that will be managed appropriately and does not currently present behavioural concerns.

While Flipper will not be returning to racing, the goal of his rehabilitation is to support him toward a comfortable and suitable second career, ideally as a riding horse, pending veterinary guidance and his progress over time.

Flipper is not currently available for adoption while he undergoes rehabilitation. Sponsorship opportunities are available for those interested in supporting his ongoing care.

WORLD PREMIERE

Age: 21 Years Old (May 10, 2005)
Height: 15.3hh approx.
Suitability: TBD

Premi is a gorgeous older mare who recently joined our program after her past owner rescued her from an unfortunate situation, and is currently in foster care.

Premi is sound and in good spirits for her age. She has experience both under saddle and driving, and has spent much of her later years as a broodmare. She is now transitioning into her next chapter, where the focus is on preparing her for a suitable adoptive home.

At this time, Premi is undergoing routine veterinary care to bring her fully up to date, along with nutritional support to help her regain optimal condition. Once her care is complete and her weight has improved, she is expected to be available for adoption.

Premi is a kind, sensible mare who would be well suited to a home looking for a steady, experienced partner.

TWIN B SWAGGER

Age: 11 Years Old (May 10, 2005)
Height: 15hh approx.
Suitability: TBD

Rowan is a recent intake that we purchase privately from his Mennonite owner to ensure that he didn’t go into the auction pipeline. He is currently in foster care and being assessed as he settles into the program.

Rowan arrived in overweight condition and is currently being managed with careful attention to his diet and overall health. He is showing signs consistent with metabolic concerns, including sensitivity in his feet, and will continue to be monitored as we work to improve his comfort and condition.

At this time, Rowan appears otherwise sound and is adjusting well to his new environment. The focus is on stabilizing his health, supporting gradual weight loss, and ensuring he is comfortable before determining his long-term suitability for adoption.

Rowan is not currently available for adoption while he undergoes this initial phase of care and assessment.
